2K Play’s Nicktoons MLB Coming this Summer

Baseball fans can look forward to some serious sporting action this summer as Nickelodeon, 2K Play and Major League Baseball Properties team up for a new offering. The companies join forces to unveil Nicktoons MLB onto Wii, DS and Kinect for Xbox 360. The game will feature all 30 MLB teams taking on the likes of an all-star roster plucked right out of the Nickelodeon’s Nicktoons series.

An engaging baseball gaming experience can be expected with this latest entrant. The title will also include various familiar Nicktoons characters such as Ren and Stimpy, SpongeBob SquarePants, Dudley Puppy, Chum Chum, ZIM and Fanboy. They will be seen hitting the field with players from all 30 MLB teams. These include Andre Ethier (Los Angeles Dodgers), Jason Heyward (Atlanta Braves), Robinson Cano (New York Yankees), Matt Holliday (St. Louis Cardinals), Miguel Cabrera (Detroit Tigers) and Cliff Lee (Philadelphia Phillies).

“The Nicktoons are an animated bunch and it’s no secret they have been petitioning our office to facilitate this unprecedented match up,” commented Steve Lux, Vice President for business development of 2K Play. “Whether an extraterrestrial from Planet Irk, superheroes who wear underwear on the outside of their costumes, or a secret agent dog, time will tell if these heavy hitters have the grit to play in the big leagues.”

“Our Nicktoons stars are taking the field and plan to ‘go yard’ against the best players in Major League Baseball,” stated Shaan Kandawalla, Vice President of Digital Retail Games for Nickelodeon/MTVN Kids and Family Group. “Nicktoons MLB will introduce a whole new rivalry on the baseball diamond and mark the first time our popular animated characters and MLB’s players will be featured in the same game.”

There are custom created digital ballparks that are claimed to offer ‘home field advantage’ that feature place such as the frigid Frosty Freeze Field and famed Fenway Park among others. Furthermore, the console versions are currently under development by High Voltage Software while the Nintendo DS title is fashioned by Black Lantern Studios.

The official pricing and availability details of Nicktoons MLB are still under wraps for now.
