Motorola’s Live Streaming Device for Your Gadgets

Motorola just introduced a new home device called as Motorola Televation that will be able to detach the ‘cord cutters’ from their set-top boxes allowing us to stream live TV to all our IP-enabled devices. That means you will be able to stream the TV content to your other devices around your home.

You need to just plug in the Televation to your cable coax and your Wi-Fi router to use it. The device uses a 1GHz digital tuner and a CableCard to access the broadcast TV channels directly from the coax outlet.
Motorola has even inserted a high-performance transcoder inside the device which enables the programming translation in real-time from MPEG-2 to MPEG-4. It also changes some factors such as the resolution and the bit rate to match your viewing device’s capabilities and also maintains the picture quality in the meanwhile.
Televation also has an Ethernet jack to plug itself directly to the Wi-Fi router so the TV shows can be streamed over IP wirelessly to connected devices the home network.
As claimed by Motorola, the device utilizes the company’s SecureMedia IPRM-HN technology. This technology will keep programming secure when being streamed thus allowing the content providers to preserve their digital rights associated with the specific program.
