iBall Announces a Tablet for the Masses – The iBall Slide

In the past couple of years, every major and minor player in the industry has come up with their own tablet computer. It was only a matter of time before Indian companies jumped onto the bandwagon too. After Reliance and Beetel recently announced their versions of budget tablets, yet another Indian company, iBall, has come up with the goods. Presenting the iBall Slide – the tablet of the masses.

Running on a 1 GHz ARM Cortex A8 processor, the iBall Slide is a 7-inch slate offering a WVGA resolution. The device comes with 8 GB of built in storage, which is expandable up to 32 GB. Although there is no official word on the amount of RAM, 512 MB seems like the best guess, looking at all the other specs of the tablet.
A nice touch here is that the tablet runs on the latest version of Android – 2.3 Gingerbread. Also, a full sized HDMI port sits at the side of the slate, which is something of a rarity in the tablet world.
Surprisingly, the Slate only features a front-facing camera, which is meant for video chat. There is no dedicated camera for clicking pictures and recording videos.
The iBall Slide will cost you INR 13,995. The company is yet to make an official announcement of the launch date.
