Asus Computer Inc., a multinational computer product manufacturer with headquarters in Taiwan, has launched the much-awaited Eee Pad Transformer Prime Tablet.
Much awaited because it is the world’s first Android tablet to incorporate the latest Nvidia Tegra 3 quad-core 1.3 GHz processor. The quad-core Tegra 3 chipset contains five processing ARM Cortex A9 cores, which will maximize processing speeds with minimum power usage.
This means you get speeds five times more than Tegra 2 and you can use Transformer Prime for up to 12 hours without charging its 22Wh batteries.
Its 10.1-inch Super IPS LCD display + Gorilla Glass with a resolution of 1280×800 pixels is another addition of the latest technology. This Super In Place Switching technology helps ultra wide viewing angles meaning no shift in contrast and colours in any angle giving clarity to oblique viewing.
The Transformer Prime is covered on both sides by a hydro-oleophobic coating, a tried and tested technology to protect all kinds surfaces from water stagnation and dust accumulation. This will protect the Transformer Prime screen from smudging by fingerprints.
Transformer Prime will be the first to support Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich later this year, but for the present, it runs Android 3.2 Honeycomb.
Other specifications include 1GB RAM, 8MP rear auto-focus camera with 1080p HD video recording and a 1.2MP front-camera. Much lighter and thinner, it is 8.3mm thin and weighs 568 gms. Connectivity via Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, microHDMI and microUSB ports is supported.
Its 32GB version is available for $499 while the 64GB built-in storage comes for $599. Plus it is shipped with the famous keyboard dock at a price of $149.
