NEW SECURITY RISKS DETECTED AND PATCHED

APPLE ITUNES

The recently iTunes 10.5 not only adds support for Apple's latest products and services, but also fixes a large number of previously unreported vulnerabilities, including multiple holes that allowed attackers to infect Windows PCs.

SOLUTION:- Download the new version and install it whether or not you use a new iPod, iPhone, or iCloud.

ADOBE PHOTOSHOP ELEMENTS

A vulnerability in Photoshop Elements 8 and earlier could allow attackers to take control of a PC by tricking users into opening a manipulated binary .ABR or .GRD file.

SOLUTION:- Adobe will not be issuing a patch, since Photoshop Elements 8 is no longer supported. Users will have to pay and upgrade to the current version 10, as the company suggests. Alternatively, users who continue with version 8 should avoid opening files of the specified types that originate from unknown sources.

IOS 5

a flaw in the implementation of AES 256 encryption allows access to all files and media stored on an ios device using suitable computer software, even if the device is locked. Furthermore, the voice activated function Siri on the iPhone 4S allows access to phone functions and will read back data when requested, unless a new security setting is specifically enabled users.

SOLUTION:- Users are advised to go through their security settings carefully and adjust them to account for new functions in ios 5.
