Tobii EyeAsteroids

Tobii is a company that totally deals with eye-tracking technology. They have added a new dimension to gaming by introducing the first ever eye-controlled arcade game in the world.

Debuting at New York’s Dave & Buster’s arcade recently, this game will soon become an attractive eye-catcher in big arcades and business showrooms. Just below the display, there are infrared sensors to calibrate your eyes before you begin.

Once that is done, you can start shooting. It takes a while to control your vision and you find yourself shooting all over the place. Kind of tricky to fix your eyes to only the object to be destroyed but once you get the hang of it, you start enjoying your new-found super powers.

This new technology has blown a new life into the old game of Atari where you can blast the target by simply fixing your gaze on it. Eye Asteroids uses no hands, no remotes, no keys and no joysticks. You can use your hands and just your eyes and you can zap away at the enemy.

Costing $15,000 each, Tobii has currently made only 50 Eye Asteroids units, which will probably end up as the latest attraction and showstoppers in high-end gaming arcades. It may take a while before we see this technology being used in a home version of the game.
We’ve heard this before…”If only looks could kill”…and now we are beginning to believe they really can!
